Helm Quick Start Guide

For Dominants & Task Masters

Your complete guide to finding partners, building your hierarchy, and managing your dynamic — from first sign-up to daily workflow.

Page 2 Getting Started

Five steps to go from zero to fully operational. Most users are up and running in under ten minutes.

  1. Create Your Account
Visit helmapp.co/register. Enter your email, choose a username (5–50 characters), and set a secure password. You will then complete biometric age verification through our partner Didit — this confirms you are 18+ and takes about two minutes. Finally, confirm your email address via the link we send you. Once verified, you have full access to every feature.
  2. Set Up Discovery
Navigate to Cultivate → Profile to create your Discovery profile. Add photos, choose your relationship role (dominant, master, daddy dom, switch, or any of the 15 available roles), write a bio, select lifestyle tags, and set your relationship goals. A complete profile significantly increases your match quality and rate.
  3. Find and Match
Browse the Discovery feed to view compatible profiles. Like the ones that interest you, pass on those that do not. When both you and another user like each other, you match — unlocking private messaging. Use filters for role, distance, age range, and interests to focus on what matters most to you.
  4. Create Your Hierarchy
When you are ready, graduate a Discovery match into a hierarchy, or create one from scratch and invite an existing partner via a join code. A hierarchy is your private space for tasks, training, chastity management, rewards, contracts, and everything else you need to run your dynamic.
  5. Explore the Helm Dashboard
The Helm is your command center. It shows a role-specific overview: pending task reviews, recent completions, Discovery activity, streak status, and quick-action buttons for common operations like creating a task or sending praise. Customize it to fit the way you lead.
Already have a partner?
Skip straight to Step 4. Discovery is entirely optional — you can jump directly to hierarchy management if you already have someone to build with.

Page 3 Discovery & Matching

Discovery is Helm's built-in matching system, located in the Cultivate pillar. It works like a purpose-built dating app for the kink community — every user is age-verified, and the matching algorithm is tuned for dynamic compatibility rather than surface-level attraction.

Your Discovery Profile

Your profile is what potential matches see. Fill out every section for the best results:

Browsing and Filtering

The Discovery feed displays profiles in a scrollable grid. Use filters to narrow results by role, age range, distance, interests, online status, and verification badge. Click any profile card to view the full profile with all photos and details.

Matching

Discovery uses mutual-interest matching. Like a profile to express interest; if the other person also likes you, it is a match. Neither party knows about a one-sided like. Once matched, a private conversation is unlocked and both users receive a notification.

Compatibility Scoring

Behind the scenes, Helm calculates a multi-factor compatibility score based on:

Profiles with higher compatibility appear earlier in your feed so you spend less time scrolling and more time connecting.

Private Albums

Create private photo albums and share them selectively with specific matches. You control exactly who has access, and you can revoke access at any time. Private albums are separate from your public Discovery photos.

Incognito Mode (Premium)

Premium subscribers can enable Incognito Mode to browse Discovery without appearing in other users' feeds. You can still like profiles and message matches — you simply will not appear in browse results. Existing matches and conversations are unaffected.

Graduating a Match

When you and a match are ready to formalize your dynamic, select Graduate Match from the conversation menu. This creates a hierarchy together, assigns roles, and optionally hides both Discovery profiles. You can also create an initial contract during graduation.

Privacy First
Your Discovery profile is only visible to other verified users. Helm never shares your data, never shows ads, and never sells information to third parties. Your profile is completely separate from your hierarchy identity.

Page 4 Setting Up Your Hierarchy

A hierarchy is your private workspace for managing a D/s dynamic. Whether you graduated a Discovery match or invited an existing partner, here is how to configure it.

General Settings

Members and Roles

Every hierarchy has three role levels:

Invite new members by sharing a join code or sending an invitation link. You can customize display names per hierarchy so members can use a scene name separate from their account username.

Permissions

Fine-tune what each role can do: who can create tasks, assign rewards, manage chastity sessions, view audit logs, and more. Start with defaults and adjust as your dynamic evolves.

Safety Configuration

Safety is built into the foundation, not bolted on:

Recommended First Steps
Set the hierarchy visibility to Private, configure a safeword, add your partner, and set the correct timezone. You can adjust everything else as you go.

Page 5 Tasks — Your Primary Tool

Tasks are at the heart of Helm's Command pillar. They let you assign, schedule, review, and reward activities within your dynamic. Here is how to use them effectively as a Dominant.

Creating a Task

  1. Title and Description
Give the task a clear, specific title. Use the description field for detailed instructions, expectations, or links to references. Your partner should know exactly what is expected without needing to ask.
  2. Priority and Schedule
Set the priority level (low, medium, high, urgent) and assign a due date. For recurring tasks, choose a repeat frequency: daily, weekly, or custom. Recurring tasks automatically create new instances on schedule.
  3. Ritual Mode
Enable Ritual Mode to mark a task as part of a daily ritual. Rituals build streaks — consecutive days of completion — which are tracked on the Helm dashboard and give your partner visible momentum.
  4. Review and Proof
Toggle "Requires Review" to personally approve or reject each completion. You can also require proof submissions (photo, text, or file) before the task is marked complete.
  5. Rewards and Points
Assign point values and optionally attach a reward that unlocks upon approval. Attach task games for bonus challenges. Points accumulate and can be spent in the Points Store.

Reviewing Completions

When a member submits a task for review, it appears in your pending reviews queue on the Helm dashboard. You have three options:

Templates and Import

Save frequently used task configurations as templates to create them again with one click. You can also import template packs shared by the community.

Audit Log

Every task action — creation, completion, review, edit, and deletion — is recorded in the audit log. View it from the task detail page to see a full timeline of what happened and when.

Start Simple
Begin with 3–5 simple daily rituals before adding complex tasks. Let your partner build the Helm habit first, then layer on more structure as the dynamic matures.

Page 6 Command Features

Beyond tasks, the Command pillar includes a suite of tools for structuring and reinforcing your dynamic.

Chastity Management

Helm provides full digital keyholder tools for managing chastity periods:

Rewards

Create media-based rewards (images, videos, or text) that unlock when a member earns them through task completion. Control who can view each reward and set access expiration if desired. Rewards appear in the member's reward gallery.

Praise

Send quick praise messages to reinforce good behavior in the moment. Praise appears as a notification and is logged in the member's activity feed. It costs nothing and takes seconds — use it generously.

Training Programs

Build multi-phase training programs with progressive complexity. Each phase contains a set of tasks that must be completed before the next phase unlocks. Use training programs for onboarding a new submissive, building specific skills, or structuring long-term development goals.

Orgasm Bank

Track and control orgasm permissions with a balance-based system. As a Dominant, you deposit allowances and approve or deny withdrawal requests. The bank tracks history, enforces permissions, and integrates with the Helm dashboard for at-a-glance balance visibility.

Contracts and Protocols

Create formal agreements that define the terms of your dynamic. Contracts support:

Help Requests

Members can submit help requests when they need guidance or an extension on a task. Requests appear in your Helm command center with options to approve, deny (with a reason), or reply for clarification. All actions are recorded in an audit trail.

Building Structure Gradually
You do not need to use every Command feature on day one. Start with tasks and praise, then add chastity, training, or contracts as your dynamic calls for them.

Page 7 Connect & Chronicle

The final two pillars round out the Helm experience: Connect for community and communication, and Chronicle for reflection and records.

Connect: Communities

Join public kink communities organized around shared interests, roles, or topics. Communities feature threaded discussions with Markdown formatting, content warnings for sensitive posts, post sorting (hot, new, top), bookmarks, in-feed search, and real-time notifications. Browse the community directory, search by keyword, or create your own community. Invite others with referral codes to earn rewards.

Connect: Direct Messages

Message any verified user on Helm directly — not just your matches or hierarchy members. Direct messages support text and image sharing with real-time delivery, read receipts, and typing indicators. Privacy controls let you choose who can message you.

Connect: Relationship Reviews

Schedule periodic check-ins with your partner to reflect on the dynamic. Both parties answer prompts independently, then discuss and sign off together. Reviews create a shared timeline that tracks how your relationship evolves over time.

Chronicle: Journals

Journals provide a private space for written reflection. Members can create entries that are visible only to themselves, or share entries with their Dominant for review. As a Dominant, reading shared journal entries gives you insight into your partner's headspace, growth, and needs.

Chronicle: Scene Logs

Record details of scenes with structured fields for activities, intensity levels, aftercare notes, and reflections. Scene logs create a historical record that helps you understand patterns and improve future experiences.

Chronicle: Mood Check-ins

Members can log their mood on a regular basis. As a Dominant, reviewing mood trends helps you identify when your partner needs extra support or when the dynamic is thriving.

Chronicle: Media Library

Organize photos and videos into albums. The media library serves as a central hub for proof-of-completion photos, reward media, scene documentation, and personal content. Albums can be private or shared with specific hierarchy members.
